Dr. Christian Heinrich Sandler, CEO of Sandler AG, was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit by Bavarian State Premier Horst Seehofer. Bestowed as a “token of honouring and appreciative recognition for outstanding services rendered to the State of Bavaria and the Bavarian people“, this order is an appreciation of exceptional commitment to the common welfare in the state. “The greatest among humans are those that give hope to others. They take a stand for other people and assume responsibility,” said Seehofer in his address on occasion of the award ceremony on Octobre 10, 2012, in the Hall of Antiquities of the Residency in Munich. “Dr. Sandler rendered great service to Bavaria through his successful entrepreneurship and his exceptionally committed work in numerous regional and trans-regional committees far beyond his professional sphere of activity.” Apart from Dr. Sandler, 73 other personalities were awarded, among them the Federal Minister of the Interior Dr. Hans-Peter Friedrich, the Bavarian Minister of State for Education and Cultural Affairs Dr. Ludwig Spaenle as well as the Bavarian Minister of State for Economics, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology and the deputy Minister-President Martin Zeil. Aside from his work in the company, Dr. Christian Heinrich Sandler has been actively engaged in the Bavarian economy in a variety of capacities for many years. Among others, he has been holding the presidency of the Association of the Bavarian Textile and Apparel Industry since January 2003 and has been a member of the presidium of the Bavarian Industry Association (vbw) since May 2003. In the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Upper Franconia in Bayreuth he is a member of the plenary assembly and member of the advisory committee to the council for industry and commerce in the city of Hof. On a federal level, Dr. Sandler has been holding the position of vice president and treasurer of the Confederation of the German Textile and Fashion Industry since 1994. Already in 1998, Dr. Sandler received the Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and in 2006 the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his versatile commitment. The Bavarian Order of Merit was established through the law of June 11, 1957. The number of living dignitaries is limited to 2000. Taking the ceremony of October 10, 2012, into account, 1846 persons are currently bearers of the Bavarian Order of Merit.
